Sefer Torah IMO Capt. Yisrael HaCohen Yudkin HYD, beloved nephew and cousin to Rabbi Chaim & Sara Steinmetz, Rabbi Zev & Shaina Steinmetz and Rabbi Levi & Leah Steinmetz.
On Wednesday, the 14th of Iyar, 5/22, Capt. Yisrael HaCohen Yudkin HYD, a lieutenant in the Netzah Yehuda Battalion, fell in the Gaza Strip, at almost 23 years old. It was when one of his soldiers was hit by sniper fire, and he jumped to save him. Unfortunately, he was also hit by a shot, and despite all the efforts to save him, he returned his soul to its creator.
Yisroel was born and raised in a Chabad family in Kfar Chabad. In the war that was imposed on us on Simchat Torah, he fought with three of his older brothers. He led his soldiers into the difficult battles with professionalism and devotion, and gave them courage and inspiration.
His death left a burning hole in the hearts of his family members, the soldiers of the Netzah Yehuda Battalion, family friends, the Chabad community and the entirety of Beit Yisrael. Alongside the shared grief and condolences we send to the family, the desire to properly perpetuate the memory of dear Yisroel burns in the hearts of all of us.

Dear Yisroel gave his life as an emissary of all of Am Yisrael.
This is our opportunity to honor him and act for the Aliyah of his soul, by participating in the act of commemoration. Please donate generously and take part in this holy mitzvah.
